Circle Origin Source stands out with its unique properties and innovative design elements. Divided into several components, including plaza floor art, parking lot railing beautification, columns at the visitor center, and exterior enhancements, the installation showcases the cultural and living belonging of the tribes. By layering these elements around a concentric circle, the artist creates a visual representation of spiritual blessings and encouragement.
The realization of Circle Origin Source involves a combination of original stone, copper, stainless steel, and brick. These materials ensure the longevity of the artwork and serve as the foundation for the installation. The plaza floor features stainless steel and brass totem patterns, complemented by inlaid stones of different colors, creating a visually captivating artwork that brings the community together.
With a total area of approximately 16 square meters, Circle Origin Source encompasses the circular ground of the square with inlaid totems, a creative lining railing in the parking lot, and two columns at the entrance of the Tourist Service Center. These elements serve as both spatial beautification and floor artwork, adding depth and meaning to the overall design.
Located in Rinari, Majia Township, Pingtung County, Taiwan, Circle Origin Source holds a significant place in the hearts of the tribesmen. It serves as a reminder of their shared origins and provides a space for rituals, dances, and community gatherings. The project was completed in December 2019, marking a new chapter in the tribe's journey of resilience and unity.
The design of Circle Origin Source is deeply rooted in extensive research and understanding of the Rinari tribe's culture, traditions, myths, and totems. The designers dedicated considerable time to studying and refining the totems, overcoming challenges and problems along the way. The result is a complete totem that embodies the essence of Circle Origin Source.
Circle Origin Source weaves together the cultural symbolism of the Paiwan tribe, incorporating the colors of the sea, mountains, and sun. This fusion of elements creates a vibrant and inviting public space where tribe members and visitors can come together, share memories, and forge lasting connections. It is a testament to the power of art and design in fostering unity and healing.
Circle Origin Source has been recognized for its exceptional design and received the Iron A' Design Award in the Landscape Planning and Garden Design category in 2022. This prestigious accolade acknowledges the project's well-designed, practical, and innovative nature, meeting professional and industrial requirements. The installation's integration of industry best practices and competent technical characteristics contributes to a better world, evoking fulfillment and positive emotions.
